Tia Mowry has addressed the viral comment she made about not being “close” to her twin sister, Tamera Mowry, assuring fans that their relationship remains strong despite the distance.
Speaking to Us Weekly, Tia explained that her comment was simply a reflection of the natural changes that occur in family dynamics as everyone grows older and takes on new responsibilities. With Tamera living in Napa, California, while Tia resides in Los Angeles, the physical distance has naturally impacted their daily interactions.
“We begin to take on new roles and responsibilities within our lives,” Tia said. “That is what that was all about. In these transitions in life, sometimes you just want a hug and you just want someone to be as accessible as they used to be, and that is not the case. It’s called life.”
She emphasized that her comment was not a reflection of any rift between the sisters, stating, “I love my sister very much. She loves me very much. We have a closeness and a beautiful connection.”
The comment sparked concern among fans after Tia shared her feelings about navigating her divorce from Cory Hardict while reflecting on her relationship with Tamera in a preview for her new WE tv show, “Tia Mowry: My Next Act.”
Tia admitted that Tamera was “not surprised” by the attention her comment received, given their long careers in the public eye. “When you’ve been in this industry for over 30 years, things are always taken out of context and it is what it is,” she said. “The only thing that I can do is control my behaviors and be the best person that I could possibly be, and that’s what both of us are.”
