**CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas** – Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Athletics has announced a major partnership with CHRISTUS Health, solidifying a sponsorship and naming Drs. George and Ioannis N. Liras, sports medicine specialists with CHRISTUS Health, as official team physicians for Islanders Athletics.

The agreement establishes a two-pronged relationship, officially recognizing the Liras brothers as team doctors for the university’s student-athletes and designating CHRISTUS Health as a key sponsor of Islanders Athletics.

The partnership, formally announced at a signing ceremony on Tuesday, signifies a commitment to student-athlete health and well-being.

“The impact of sports medicine on an NCAA Division-I athletic department cannot be overstated,” stated Adrian Rodriguez, Vice President of Student Engagement and Success & Intercollegiate Athletics. “Having dedicated physicians and athletic trainers specializing in athletic performance enhances our ability to prevent, diagnose, and treat injuries effectively.”

The Liras brothers, who have been involved with Islanders Athletics since 2016, have provided medical care to over 250 student-athletes, attending hundreds of games, conference tournaments, and NCAA championships.

“The timing of this partnership could not be more perfect,” said Dr. George Liras. “We’ve been privileged to be on the sidelines, watching these young, talented athletes compete, win championships and write history for the university. It’s been an incredible journey.”

“Our goal, as always, will be to keep these athletes’ health in top condition and ready to compete at their highest potential,” added Dr. Ioannis Liras. “But beyond that, we also want to ensure their well-being off the court or field, helping them reach new heights in every aspect of life.”
