The Supreme Court on Thursday granted bail to V. Senthil Balaji, a DMK leader and former Tamil Nadu Minister, who was arrested last year in connection with a money laundering case linked to an alleged cash-for-jobs scam. The court, presided over by Justice Abhay S. Oka, found the bail conditions imposed on Balaji to be overly stringent and granted him release.

Balaji, currently an MLA from the Karur Assembly constituency, was accused of involvement in a cash-for-jobs scam that allegedly took place during his tenure as the state transport minister between 2011 and 2016, under the previous AIADMK government. He was a member of the AIADMK at the time but has since joined the DMK.

The court’s decision marks a significant development in the case, which has drawn considerable public attention.
