**Seoul, South Korea** – Samsung Electronics and Hyundai Motor Group have announced a strategic partnership to enhance the connected car experience by integrating the SmartThings IoT platform with Hyundai and Kia’s software-defined vehicles (SDVs). The agreement will offer users a seamless and personalized experience across their devices and vehicles.

“Our goal is to enrich Hyundai Motor and Kia customers’ mobility experience by offering personalized services that extend beyond transportation, seamlessly integrating vehicles with smartphones,” said Chang Song, President and Head of Hyundai Motor Group Advanced Vehicle Platform (AVP) Division.

The partnership will leverage the SmartThings Find platform, which utilizes a crowdsourced network of millions of Samsung Galaxy devices to locate vehicles via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology. This enables drivers to track their vehicles even without a cellular network connection, enhancing security and peace of mind.

Furthermore, drivers can control vehicle functions like air conditioning and check their remaining range directly from their Galaxy device’s Quick Panel. Vehicles can also be integrated into the SmartThings ecosystem, allowing users to control home appliances like air conditioners and air purifiers while driving home, ensuring a comfortable arrival.

Beyond connectivity, the partnership will explore AI-powered services tailored to individual lifestyles, including in-vehicle health monitoring, pet care solutions, and integration with smart apartment systems.

“Through our collaboration with Hyundai and Kia, customers will experience the convenience of SmartThings not only at home but also in their vehicles, transcending space,” said Paul (Kyungwhoon) Cheun, President, CTO of DX Division at Samsung Electronics and Head of Samsung Research. “We will continue to expand the SmartThings ecosystem, offering new lifestyles and value to even more customers.”

This partnership builds on the companies’ previous collaboration announced in January, which focused on connecting smartphones, vehicles, and home appliances. This latest evolution expands the scope to encompass SDV integration, healthcare, pet care, and smart apartment solutions, further solidifying Samsung and Hyundai’s commitment to providing a truly connected and personalized experience for users.
