Wed Sep 25 07:34:16 UTC 2024: ## Zelensky Calls for Forced Peace at UN, Accuses Iran and North Korea of Aiding Russia

**New York, NY** – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the UN Security Council on September 24, demanding decisive action to force Russia into ending its aggression against Ukraine. He labeled Russia the sole aggressor and violator of the UN Charter, declaring that negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin would be “insanity.”

Zelensky also condemned Iran and North Korea for supplying weapons to Russia, making them “de facto accomplices” in the war. He stated that these weapons are “killing us, killing Ukrainians.”

Meanwhile, Russia launched fresh strikes on Ukraine, targeting an apartment building, a bakery, and a stadium in Ukraine’s second-largest city, killing three people and injuring 24. Zelensky called Russia a “terrorist” state and expressed his gratitude for ongoing U.S. support.

During a meeting with a bipartisan delegation of U.S. lawmakers, Zelensky highlighted the critical role of the United States in defending Ukraine’s freedom. He expressed confidence that decisive action now could accelerate the end of the war.

“Decisive action now could hasten the just end of Russian aggression against Ukraine next year,” Zelensky stated. He also emphasized the opportunity to strengthen cooperation between Ukraine and the United States.

Despite Russia’s continued aggression and territorial gains, Zelensky remains optimistic about the possibility of peace. He told ABC News that Ukraine is “closer to the end of the war” than many believe.

The Ukrainian president also noted that Russia’s recent incursion into the Kursk region exposes Putin’s fear and weakness, highlighting his inability to defend all of Russia’s territory.

While Russia continues to launch attacks on Ukraine, with air defenses shooting down 66 out of 81 drones launched on September 24, Zelensky remains resolute in his determination to end the war and bring peace to Ukraine.
