Wed Sep 25 03:36:06 UTC 2024: ## Hezbollah Launches Rocket at Tel Aviv, Intercepted by Israeli Defense System

**Tel Aviv, Israel -** In a significant escalation of tensions, Hezbollah launched a rocket at Tel Aviv in the early hours of Wednesday morning, marking the first time the group has targeted the city. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced that the surface-to-surface missile was intercepted by the David’s Sling aerial defense system.

Hezbollah, in a statement on their Telegram channel, claimed responsibility for the attack and said they had fired a “Qadr 1” ballistic missile at the Mossad headquarters in Tel Aviv, alleging it was responsible for the assassination of Hezbollah leaders and a recent cyberattack.

While the IDF confirmed the interception of the missile, the intended target remains unclear. Some sources claimed the missile was aimed at the IDF intelligence base in Glilot, north of Tel Aviv.

The IDF swiftly retaliated, locating the launcher in Nafakhiyeh, Lebanon, approximately 20 kilometers from the Israeli border, and attacking it. The attack came shortly after sirens blared across Tel Aviv, prompting residents to seek shelter in safe rooms.

Despite the incident, the IDF assured the public that there would be no change to current defensive guidelines and educational activities would continue as usual. Tel Aviv municipality also confirmed normalcy, although they remain in contact with security services for updates.

Following the attack, several airlines, including Aegean and Wizz Air, canceled flights to Israel until 11:00 a.m. while Ben Gurion International Airport reported continued operations as planned.

Magen David Adom (MDA) reported nine people sustained light injuries while running to safe rooms and were subsequently transported to the hospital.

This incident marks the first time a rocket has been fired towards central Israel since Yemen’s Houthis launched a ballistic missile at Tel Aviv on September 15.

While the IDF’s defense systems proved effective in intercepting the missile, experts have warned that the rate of missiles not intercepted from Lebanon is likely to increase, emphasizing the importance of following proper safety measures.
