Ridley has released a new version of its Falcn aero road bike, the Falcn, designed to make high-performance aero technology more accessible to a wider range of riders. While maintaining the aerodynamic prowess of its top-tier sibling, the Falcn RS, the new Falcn utilizes a more affordable carbon layup, making it an attractive option for endurance athletes and those seeking race-ready performance without breaking the bank.
Despite the lower price point, the Falcn doesn’t skimp on features. It shares the same aerodynamic frame and fork design as the RS, boasting fully integrated cable routing, a diffuser fork crown, dropped seatstays, and aerodynamic tube shaping. It also features the same geometry, making it race-ready while still offering a comfortable ride.
The Falcn swaps out the proprietary D-shaped seatpost of the RS for a conventional round seatpost, allowing for a wider range of compatibility. While this slightly reduces aerodynamic efficiency, it will likely be welcomed by riders who prefer standard seatpost options.
The new Falcn is also compatible with both 2x mechanical and electronic groupsets, offering increased versatility for riders. It features a maximum tire clearance of 34mm, allowing for a more comfortable ride and reduced rolling resistance, especially when paired with wider tires.
The Falcn starts at €3000 for a frameset, making it €2000 cheaper than the Falcn RS. Complete bike builds start at €3400, with options ranging from Shimano 105 to SRAM Force AXS groupsets, and a variety of wheel and component options.
With its impressive performance, affordable price, and customizable options, the Ridley Falcn is poised to be a strong contender in the aero road bike market.
