**Townsville, Queensland** – Police are investigating the death of a 38-year-old man who was involved in a fight outside Townsville Stadium following an NRL game on September 14. The altercation occurred between the victim and a 34-year-old man in the stadium’s southern carpark after the Cowboys-Knights game.

The 38-year-old was rushed to hospital with serious injuries and later passed away at an address in Ball Bay, near Mackay, five days later. The 34-year-old was arrested on the night of the incident and charged with grievous bodily harm. He is due to appear in Townsville Magistrates Court on November 13.

Police are currently awaiting post-mortem results to confirm the cause of death and are urging anyone who witnessed the assault between 9:30pm and 10:15pm in the southern car park to come forward. They are also seeking any available footage from the area, specifically any vision of three people riding scooters on Sir Leslie Thiess Drive between 6:30pm and 7:00pm.

Police have confirmed that the two men involved in the altercation were not known to each other. Stadiums Queensland, which manages the stadium, released a statement acknowledging the incident and stating they are cooperating fully with the police investigation.
