**Ankara, Turkey** – In a major blow to human trafficking networks, Turkish security forces have apprehended 84 migrant smugglers and 1,029 irregular migrants across 27 provinces in a four-day operation. The operation, codenamed Shield-27, was launched under the direction of Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, who emphasized the government’s unwavering commitment to combating human trafficking.

Of the arrested smugglers, 25 have been formally charged, while seven were placed under judicial control. Investigations are ongoing for the remaining suspects. The apprehended irregular migrants are currently being held at repatriation centers awaiting deportation.

Minister Yerlikaya declared that Turkey will continue its efforts to dismantle human trafficking networks that utilize the country as a transit route for illegal migration. “We will never give an opportunity to human traffickers,” he affirmed, reiterating the government’s dedication to safeguarding border security and preventing illegal migration.
