Wed Sep 25 07:16:04 UTC 2024: ## Osaka Gas and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Partner to Launch CO2NNEX(R) Platform for Carbon Neutrality at Expo 2025

**TOKYO, Sept 25, 2024** – Osaka Gas Co., Ltd. and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) have announced a groundbreaking partnership to implement CO2NNEX(R), the city gas industry’s first digital platform for visualizing traded carbon dioxide (CO2) at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan.

The platform will be used to manage the environmental value of e-methane, a clean gas produced from captured CO2, and potentially other carbon recycled fuels like e-fuel, SAF, and Green LPG in the future.

**Key Features of CO2NNEX(R):**

* **Manages e-methane attribute data:** The platform will track key data like production volume, CO2 and H2 used as raw materials, etc., crucial for the social implementation of e-methane.
* **Facilitates environmental value transfer:** CO2NNEX(R) will enable the transfer of environmental value generated by e-methane and biogas, allowing for transparent and efficient trading of these clean fuels.
* **Contributes to Expo 2025’s carbon neutrality:** During the Expo, Osaka Gas will supply guesthouses and other facilities with on-site produced e-methane. CO2NNEX(R) will manage the attribute data and environmental value associated with this project, further contributing to the Expo’s carbon neutrality goal.

**Expanding the Platform’s Scope:**

Osaka Gas plans to introduce e-methane, accounting for 1% of its city gas delivery, by 2030. Recognizing the increasing value of e-methane and environmental value transactions, MHI aims to expand CO2NNEX(R)’s application to manage other carbon-neutral fuels and CO2 distribution, potentially even extending it to Asian countries exploring e-methane and SAF.

**A Collaborative Effort for a Carbon-Neutral Future:**

This partnership between Osaka Gas and MHI exemplifies their commitment to achieving a carbon-neutral society. By promoting the widespread adoption of e-methane and other clean fuels, CO2NNEX(R) plays a critical role in accelerating the energy transition and creating a more sustainable future.

**About Osaka Gas:**

Osaka Gas is committed to achieving net-zero emissions across its group by 2050. The company actively develops technologies and services that promote decarbonization and address climate change and other social challenges.
