Wed Sep 25 08:25:06 UTC 2024: ## Sainsbury’s Sells ATM Business to NoteMachine

**London, UK – September 25, 2024** – Sainsbury’s, the UK supermarket chain, has announced the sale of its ATM business to NoteMachine, a Brink’s Company, one of the UK’s leading ATM operators.

The deal, expected to be finalized by May 2025, will see NoteMachine take ownership of approximately 1,370 ATMs located across the UK. All ATMs will remain operational and accessible to customers at their current locations, ensuring continued free access to cash.

This move signifies another step in Sainsbury’s ongoing transformation of its banking business, following the announcement of a phased withdrawal from its core banking activities in January. The sale will simplify Sainsbury’s banking operations and reduce costs, while generating a shared commission income stream.

“We are delighted to offer our customers continued free access to cash at all of our existing locations while streamlining our banking business,” commented Simon Roberts, Chief Executive of Sainsbury’s. “We believe NoteMachine is the ideal partner for both us and our customers.”

Steve Makaritis, Chief Executive Officer of NoteMachine, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “This agreement aligns perfectly with our mission to make banking more accessible and convenient for all. We are committed to providing exceptional service, whether in urban or rural areas, and this expansion of our ATM network allows us to further achieve that goal.”

This acquisition marks a significant step for both companies. Sainsbury’s continues to optimize its operations, while NoteMachine expands its reach and strengthens its position as a leading provider of ATM services in the UK.
