Thu Sep 26 01:55:00 UTC 2024: ## Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah Ordered to Face Investigation in Land Scam

**Bengaluru, September 25, 2024:** A Special Court in Bengaluru has ordered a criminal investigation against Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and others in connection with the alleged illegal allotment of 14 sites worth ₹56 crore to his wife by the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA).

The court, acting on a private complaint, directed the Lokayukta police in Mysuru to register a case against Siddaramaiah, his wife Parvathi B.M., brother-in-law B.M. Mallikarjuna Swamy, and J. Devaraj. The investigation is expected to probe allegations of criminal conspiracy, corruption, land grabbing, and forgery.

The court has directed the Lokayukta police to submit their investigation report within three months.

This decision follows the Karnataka High Court’s dismissal of Siddaramaiah’s petition challenging the investigation. The High Court found that the allegations “undoubtedly require an investigation.”

Siddaramaiah has maintained his innocence and stated that he will cooperate with the investigation.

The Special Court’s order has triggered a political storm in Karnataka, with the opposition BJP accusing Siddaramaiah of corruption and demanding his resignation.

The investigation is expected to be a major test for Siddaramaiah’s government and could have significant political implications.
