Wed Sep 25 22:56:16 UTC 2024: ## Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah Ordered to be Investigated in Land Allotment Case

**Bengaluru, India:** A special court in Bengaluru has ordered an investigation into the Chief Minister of Karnataka, Siddaramaiah, and his wife Parvathy BM, in connection with an alleged illegal land allotment case.

The order, issued by Special Court Judge Santhosh Gajanan Bhat, was based on a complaint filed by social activist Snehamayi Krishna. The complaint alleges that Parvathy BM, the Chief Minister’s wife, received 14 posh sites in Mysuru worth Rs 56 crore through questionable means.

The alleged irregularities began in 2004 when land in Kesare village was acquired for development. Despite a compensation amount being deposited and the land being marked for public use, the land was later illegally transferred to Parvathy BM via her brother, Mallikarjuna Swamy.

The complaint further alleges that fraudulent site inspection reports were created to facilitate the transfer, and that Parvathy BM received the prime locations in Mysuru city through favoritism after her husband became Chief Minister in 2013.

The special court has ordered the Lokayukta police in Mysuru to investigate the matter under several sections of the Indian Penal Code, the Prevention of Corruption Act, and the Prohibition of Benami Property Transactions Act. The investigation is expected to be completed within three months.

The Karnataka High Court had previously upheld the Governor’s approval for a probe into the matter, emphasizing the need for an investigation into the actions of Siddaramaiah, who was a legislator twice and Chief Minister once during the period in question.

This order comes as a significant development in the land allotment case, which has been a subject of controversy for several months. The investigation is expected to shed light on the alleged irregularities and hold those responsible accountable.
