Wed Sep 25 07:45:23 UTC 2024: ## Norway Reaffirms Strong Support for Palestine, Urges Action on Two-State Solution

**New York, September 23rd** – Norway’s Foreign Minister Barth Eide reiterated his country’s unwavering support for Palestine during a meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Monday in New York. Eide emphasized Norway’s commitment to a political process leading to the establishment of a Palestinian state, highlighting the growing support for the Arab Peace Vision, which advocates for a two-state solution.

Expressing concern over the worsening situation in the West Bank, President Abbas thanked Norway for recognizing the State of Palestine. He highlighted the escalating violence, which hinders the Palestinian government’s ability to govern effectively.

“The two-state solution has been discussed for too long, but without concrete action,” stated Minister Eide. “A clear majority of the world supports a viable Palestinian state, but the prolonged occupation, illegal settlements, and attacks on Palestinian institutions are threatening its possibility.”

Eide emphasized the urgent need for action to preserve the two-state solution, stressing that waiting until the conflict in Gaza ends is not an option. He expressed hope that the upcoming meetings in New York – the International donor group for Palestine (AHLC) and the Ministerial meeting on implementing the two-state solution – will inspire further commitment from countries to concrete actions that will contribute to a viable Palestinian state.
