Wed Sep 25 08:41:00 UTC 2024: ## MCMC Reports TikTok Drug Sales, Launches Wider Social Media Probe

**PUTRAJAYA:** The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has filed a police report regarding suspected drug sales on TikTok, Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil announced today. The report was lodged on Wednesday, September 25th, following a post on X alleging the sale of drugs through a TikTok account.

“MCMC will contact TikTok to investigate how these accounts were able to operate and sell drugs online,” said Fahmi. TikTok has since shut down the accounts in question and removed their content.

Responding to the incident, Fahmi has instructed the MCMC to expand their investigation to determine if similar illicit activities are taking place on other social media platforms.

“Based on the products (seen) online, I have instructed the MCMC to broaden its investigation to find out if drugs are being sold on other social media platforms, not just TikTok,” he stated.

In a separate matter, Fahmi acknowledged grievances regarding hotel check-in delays, often stretching until 4pm. He assured that these concerns, widely expressed on social media, will be relayed to the Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry for further investigation and action.
