**NEW DELHI, Sept 26:** Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh turned 92 on Thursday, with Congress leaders praising his impactful contributions to India’s economic and political landscape.
Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, hailed Singh’s humility, wisdom, and selfless service in shaping India’s future. Singh served as Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014, leading the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government. Notably, he also held the position of India’s Finance Minister during the 1991-96 era under Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao, a period marked by transformative economic reforms.
Widely recognized as the architect of these reforms, Singh played a pivotal role in dismantling socialist-era policies and steering India towards a more market-oriented economy.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended birthday greetings to his predecessor on X (formerly Twitter), expressing his wishes for a long and healthy life for Singh.
