**Sao Paulo, Brazil** – Formula 2 race winner Zane Maloney will make his Formula E debut later this year, joining the Abt Formula E team for the upcoming 2024/25 season. The 20-year-old will drive for the German team in the Sao Paulo E-Prix on December 7th, marking the start of his all-electric racing career.

Maloney, who also serves as a reserve driver for Sauber Formula 1, is the first driver from Barbados to compete in Formula E. He previously held the position of test and reserve driver for Andretti over the past two seasons, gaining valuable experience in the series.

The young racer is excited to join Abt, Lola, and Yamaha at the beginning of their partnership. “It’s a great opportunity to join Abt, Lola and Yamaha in this new journey for them,” Maloney stated. “A big step in my career to be employed under such an amazing group of people.”

Maloney currently holds third place in the F2 standings, having won both the sprint and feature races at the Bahrain event. He will continue competing in the series until the Qatar round before focusing on his Formula E commitments.

Abt CEO, Thomas Biermaier, expressed enthusiasm for having Maloney on the team. “We are very much looking forward to having Zane as part of the team for Season 11, and he has already brought a breath of fresh air during our first days working together,” Biermaier commented.

Maloney will partner with veteran Formula E racer Lucas di Grassi at Abt, replacing Nico Muller who has moved to Andretti. The team is optimistic about the upcoming season, which will mark the first year of their collaboration with Lola and Yamaha.

The announcement of Maloney’s joining Abt marks a significant moment for the young driver and the Formula E championship. The Barbadian racer’s talent and experience will be a valuable asset to the team, and his debut in the Sao Paulo E-Prix will be one to watch.
