**Jharkhand**, **New Delhi**: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, demanding immediate payment of Rs 1.36 trillion in mining dues from coal companies. The state claims this amount was owed despite a Supreme Court order and has caused irreparable damage to Jharkhand and its citizens. Soren has requested a direct debit of the funds from Coal India’s account to the state government, similar to the process used to collect dues from the Jharkhand State Electricity Board.
