Thu Sep 26 08:16:42 UTC 2024: ## Malayalam Actor Siddique on the Run After Lookout Notice Issued in Rape Case
**Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala:** A lookout notice has been issued against Malayalam actor Siddique in connection with a rape case, the Kerala Police announced on Thursday. The notice, issued on September 26, was sent to all district police chiefs in Kerala and to police authorities across the country.
Siddique, a former General Secretary of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA), faces serious allegations of rape and criminal intimidation. He is currently on the run after the Kerala High Court dismissed his anticipatory bail application on September 24.
The case was registered by the museum police in Thiruvananthapuram on August 27, following a complaint filed by a young actor. Siddique has denied the accusations and filed a counter complaint against the victim.
This development follows a wave of #MeToo allegations that have rocked the Malayalam film industry. The Justice Hema Committee report, released on August 19, highlighted systemic mistreatment and exploitation of women in the industry.
The report revealed that a small group of male producers, directors, and actors wield significant power and control over the industry. Several prominent figures, including director Ranjith and actors Mukesh, Jayasurya, and Edavela Babu, have been accused of sexual abuse.
Following the allegations against him, Siddique resigned from his position in AMMA. Subsequently, the entire 17-member executive committee of the association also stepped down.
The Kerala Police’s current investigation, headed by a Special Investigation Team (SIT), aims to bring justice to the victim and hold the accused accountable for their actions.
