Wed Sep 25 09:06:00 UTC 2024: ## Gaza Refuses Unidentified Bodies, Accuses Israel of Inhumane Treatment

Gaza authorities have refused to accept a container of 88 Palestinian bodies sent from Israel, citing a lack of information about their identities as a violation of basic human rights. The Ministry of Health demanded that Israel provide full data on the victims, including names, time of death, and location of their capture, before they would receive the bodies.

The shipment of unidentified bodies has been condemned by Gaza’s Government Media Office as an “inhumane and criminal move.” Al Jazeera reports that the bodies are mostly decomposed, suggesting they were held in Israel for an extended period.

This incident comes amidst a horrifying escalation of violence in the Gaza Strip, with Israeli airstrikes killing at least 53 Palestinians in the past 24 hours. The Palestinian Civil Defence reports that several families have been wiped out, with numerous civilians killed in their homes and shelters.

The UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has condemned the atrocities committed by Hamas and the collective punishment of the Palestinian people by Israel, calling for an immediate ceasefire and the release of hostages. He also urged a push towards a two-state solution.

The conflict has claimed the lives of over 41,000 Palestinians and 1,139 Israelis, while more than 200 Israelis remain hostages.

Meanwhile, in the occupied West Bank, Israeli forces conducted raids, resulting in the arrest of 21 Palestinians in various cities, including Hebron, Salfit, Nablus, and Bethlehem.
