Wed Sep 25 07:00:00 UTC 2024: ## TikToker’s “Unethical” Chipotle Hack Sparks Debate

A TikTok video has sparked debate about the ethics of using reward apps to score free food at fast-food restaurants, particularly Chipotle. The video, shared by user Christian Lager (@cristian.lager), details a method he claims to have used to get thousands of dollars worth of free meals.

Lager’s “unethical life hack” involves accumulating enough points for a free item on a reward app, taking a screenshot of the app, and then attempting to scan the screenshot at the Chipotle register. When the scan fails, he feigns ignorance and claims he doesn’t know why the app isn’t working.

According to Lager, this tactic often works because employees are pressured to quickly resolve the situation, especially if there’s a line forming. Some TikTok users, including former Chipotle employees, confirmed that the hack is indeed plausible, citing busy schedules and a desire to avoid confrontation.

However, other commenters noted that the trick is not foolproof and can be easily detected by employees who are familiar with it. One user claimed that at McDonald’s, employees ask customers to refresh the code or show it at the window, making it more difficult to fake.

The ethicality of Lager’s hack remains a topic of discussion. While some users find it amusing, others criticize its manipulative nature and potential to exploit underpaid workers. Chipotle and Lager have not yet commented on the situation.
