Wed Sep 25 07:49:46 UTC 2024: ## Hyderabad’s Elite Clubs Face Food Safety Crackdown
Hyderabad’s food safety task force has cracked down on two prominent clubs in the city, uncovering a host of hygiene violations and lack of proper licensing.
On September 24th, 2024, the task force inspected the historic Nizam Club, founded in 1884 by Nawab Mahbub Ali Khan. The club was found operating without a valid FSSAI license and lacked crucial documentation including food handler medical certificates, pest control records, and water analysis reports.
The inspection revealed serious hygiene lapses, including a cockroach infestation, water seepage, broken refrigerators, rusted joints, and clogged drains. Unlabelled food items were found stored in the kitchen, with beetle infestation discovered in wheat flour and urad dal. Open dustbins without lids and the use of synthetic food coloring in Chinese dishes further raised concerns.
The same day, the task force inspected The Fateh Maidan Club in LB Stadium, Abids. This establishment also faced criticism for not displaying a valid FSSAI license, lack of hygiene in the kitchen with uncovered food and unclean surfaces, and the absence of proper attire for food handlers. Missing documentation included medical fitness certificates and water analysis reports.
This crackdown on prominent establishments follows a similar inspection of paan shops in Nacharam and Mallapur on September 21st. Four out of five shops were found operating without valid FSSAI registration and lacked adequate hygiene and waste disposal facilities.
The food safety task force has pledged to take action against all establishments found violating food safety regulations, emphasizing the importance of maintaining proper hygiene and adhering to licensing requirements.
