Wed Sep 25 08:57:15 UTC 2024: ## Shakib Al Hasan Fit for Second Test Against India, Confirms Bangladesh Coach

**Kanpur:** Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is fit to play the second Test against India, despite suffering a finger injury in the first match, according to Bangladesh head coach Chandika Hathurusinghe.

Shakib, who sustained the injury while facing Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah in Chennai, is expected to be available for the second Test starting Friday in Kanpur. “I haven’t heard from my physio or from anyone,” Hathurusinghe said after the team’s first training session in Kanpur. “He is still eligible for selection.”

Despite a recent dip in form, Hathurusinghe backed Shakib’s ability, praising his resilient performance in the second innings of the first Test where he scored 25 runs. “I am not upset about his performance. Our overall performance, we could have done better,” Hathurusinghe said. “He batted really well in the second innings.”

The coach also dismissed concerns about the team’s security in India amid political unrest back home. “We have no concern about the security. We trust that the Indian board is looking after that,” he reassured.

The second Test promises to be an exciting clash as Bangladesh looks to level the series after losing the first match.
