Wed Sep 25 08:26:38 UTC 2024: ## Jared Harris Declines Dumbledore Role in Upcoming Harry Potter TV Series

Jared Harris, son of the late Richard Harris who played Dumbledore in the first two Harry Potter films, has firmly rejected the possibility of taking on the iconic role in the upcoming HBO Max series.

In an interview with The Independent, Harris responded with a definitive “No, thank you” when asked about potentially portraying the beloved wizard. He went on to question the need for a reboot, stating, “The films were fantastic – leave them alone.” However, he acknowledged the TV series could delve deeper into the world of Harry Potter, exploring stories omitted from the original films.

The new series, which will adapt one of J.K. Rowling’s books per season, is currently casting for young actors to play Harry, Ron, and Hermione. While Harris has passed on the opportunity, fellow Harry Potter alum Gary Oldman, who played Sirius Black, has hinted at a possible interest in playing Dumbledore in the future.

The upcoming series is expected to debut in 2026.
