**SEREMBAN:** The Negri Sembilan government is stepping up efforts to monitor businesses allegedly linked to Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISB) following reports of some businesses altering their logos to evade scrutiny.
Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun revealed that authorities have received information indicating businesses are making minor changes to their logos to distance themselves from GISB.
“Enforcement agencies, including the state Islamic affairs department, are gathering evidence and we will take action once the police conclude their investigation,” Aminuddin told reporters after chairing the state executive council meeting on Wednesday.
“We do not want to interfere with the police investigation. The state agencies, including the local councils, have been instructed to continue monitoring the situation on the ground,” he added.
The state government has identified the locations of all GISB-linked businesses throughout Negri Sembilan.
Aminuddin also stressed the importance of heightened scrutiny of tahfiz and madrasah to ensure they are not violating state Islamic laws.
“We should not only investigate when issues arise. Monitoring these institutions, especially those outside the mainstream, should be done regularly,” he emphasized.
The state government is also considering only allowing licensed religious schools to operate in the future, as some have been operating without a licence due to failing to meet state Islamic authority requirements.
Aminuddin urged Muslims in Negri Sembilan to be vigilant against deviant Islamic teachings, particularly Aurad Muhammadiyah, which was declared illegal in the state in 2016.
“Do not be swayed by teachings banned by the state Islamic authorities. There are organized attempts to manipulate Muslims, and I hope they will not influence us,” he said.
These developments come after the arrest of a school chairman and principal in Kuala Pilah, linked to GISB Holdings Sdn Bhd, for allegedly attempting to revive Aurad Muhammadiyah teachings.
