Wed Sep 25 08:14:47 UTC 2024: ## France Dismiss Match-Fixing Claims After Controversial Futsal World Cup Loss to Iran

**PARIS** – France has denied allegations of match-fixing following their 4-1 loss to Iran at the Futsal World Cup in Uzbekistan. The result, which saw Iran secure a more favorable draw, has sparked outrage from other teams, some of whom have filed complaints with FIFA.

The match, which saw France concede a soft goal early in the second half, was described as “disgraceful” by Thailand’s coach Miguel Rodrigo, while Brazilian legend Falcao alleged the match was “fixed from the first minute.”

However, French coach Raphael Reynaud defended his team’s performance, stating that the match strategy was focused on avoiding bookings and injuries to prepare for the latter stages of the tournament. “It was Iran’s responsibility to be in charge of the game,” Reynaud said.

The French Football Federation has yet to respond to the allegations. FIFA has acknowledged the complaints and said they will not comment further while the investigation is ongoing.

The controversy adds another layer of drama to the Futsal World Cup, which is already facing criticism for its format and officiating.
