**New York, Sept. 26** – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has pledged to work towards reviving the Black Sea grain deal during a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. The two leaders discussed the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and emphasized the need for a peaceful resolution through dialogue and respect for Ukraine’s sovereignty.
Erdoğan reiterated Türkiye’s willingness to facilitate peace talks and expressed hope for future cooperation between the two countries.
Beyond the Ukrainian conflict, Erdoğan has been actively engaged with other world leaders, aiming to address global issues. He met with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, noting progress in normalizing relations between Ankara and Yerevan. Erdoğan also discussed bilateral relations and global issues, including the conflict in Gaza, with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, agreeing to hold a high-level cooperation council meeting in Türkiye in early 2025.
In an interview with NBC News, Erdoğan addressed the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas, emphasizing his opposition to terrorism while acknowledging Hamas as a resistance group. He urged understanding of the historical and social factors leading to the conflict.
Erdoğan also met with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, criticizing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s administration for alleged violations of international law and human rights. They also discussed Türkiye-Germany bilateral relations, Ankara’s EU membership bid, and challenges Turkish citizens face in obtaining Schengen visas.
Erdoğan also met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, emphasizing the need for peace amid Israel’s attacks on Palestine and Lebanon.
