**Burien, WA** – A fugitive sex offender dubbed Detroit’s most wanted since 2018, Cory Alan Olson, was apprehended in Burien, Washington on Tuesday after a pursuit by law enforcement. Olson had been using various aliases and evading authorities while living in the area.

Olson’s capture came after a lengthy investigation prompted by a tip from Kansas authorities. Olson, using the name Randall, had been working temporary jobs in Washington and was questioned about unpaid taxes on income earned elsewhere. This investigation led Washington state officials to further investigate Olson’s true identity.

Detective Riley Myklebust, who played a key role in Olson’s capture, described the investigation as a “find me puzzle,” noting the challenges faced due to identity theft. After weeks of searching and examining years of records, Myklebust finally identified Olson.

Olson was apprehended as he was getting into his car at a new job. While police attempted to stop him, Olson pushed a sergeant and drove away. However, Myklebust, who was pursuing Olson in a minivan, managed to capture him shortly after.

Despite fingerprints confirming Olson’s identity, he refused to admit who he was. Olson’s criminal history includes the sexual assault of a teenage girl, evading arrest by injuring a deputy in a car crash, and another sexual assault charge in Washington state against a person with special needs.

During his arraignment for identity theft, criminal impersonation and forgery charges, Olson’s attorney successfully requested that his identity be protected by the court.

Police emphasized the importance of public awareness due to Olson’s history of sexual offenses. He is known to frequent karaoke bars, presenting himself as a wealthy investor with a military background, often targeting women with teenage daughters. Olson is believed to have been active in several Washington communities, including Issaquah, Seattle, Puyallup, and Olympia, under various aliases.
