Cochin International Airport Ltd (CIAL) is set to launch two new facilities this month, aimed at boosting security and passenger comfort. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the airport’s multidimensional electronic security system and the expanded T3 lounge on Thursday.
The new security system, a first in India, features a 360-degree electronic perimeter defense system. This includes non-lethal power fences, fibre optic vibration sensors, and a drainage intrusion detection system, all integrated with the airport’s security operations control centre. The system, costing ₹30 crore, was installed with technical support from Tata Advanced Power Systems. Real-time alerts allow security personnel to immediately monitor and respond to any potential breaches.
Meanwhile, the expanded T3 lounge, now measuring 28,000 sq ft, offers passengers a live kitchen with fresh meals, a spacious dining area, and access for eligible cardholders.
These new additions showcase CIAL’s commitment to providing passengers with a safe and comfortable travel experience, solidifying its position as a leading airport in India.
