**RENO, NV** – A bear rescued from the Davis Fire south of Reno last week has died. The 25-year-old male bear, nicknamed “Nugget” by the Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District, was found on Wednesday, Sept. 18, with severe burns on his paws, face, and mouth.

Nugget was transported to a wildlife care facility in Nevada, but his condition worsened since Friday. Despite efforts by veterinarians and state wildlife specialists, the bear’s injuries proved too severe. The Animal Ark organization ultimately made the difficult decision to euthanize Nugget.

The Davis Fire, which broke out on September 17th, has ravaged thousands of acres and caused significant damage to wildlife habitats. Nugget’s tragic fate highlights the devastating impact wildfires have on animals and the importance of protecting these natural resources.
