Wed Sep 25 07:41:19 UTC 2024: ## Seun Kuti Weighs In On Bobrisky’s EFCC Case, Questions Preferential Treatment
Nigerian Afrobeats star Seun Kuti, son of legendary musician Fela Kuti, has joined the conversation surrounding crossdresser Bobrisky’s ongoing case with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Kuti revealed that he was shown an audio recording by social media activist Veryfdarkman (VDM), in which Bobrisky alleges the EFCC received a N15m bribe to drop his money laundering case. In the audio, Bobrisky also claimed he did not serve his jail term, and mentioned rapper Falz and his father, Femi Falana.
During a recent Instagram Live session, Kuti disclosed that he encouraged VDM to expose the audio, stating he was surprised Bobrisky received preferential treatment while he himself served his jail term.
This statement comes after VDM, who first leaked the audio recording, has been threatened with legal action by Bobrisky.
Kuti’s comments follow his earlier criticisms of football star Rodri’s warning about potential strike action. The musician argued that footballers earn exorbitant salaries compared to essential professionals, and people could live without football.
This incident underscores the ongoing debate surrounding celebrity privileges and accountability in Nigeria. It remains to be seen how the EFCC will respond to Bobrisky’s accusations and the impact of Seun Kuti’s intervention in the case.
