Perth’s Bob Hawke College in Subiaco has fallen victim to online trolls who have changed the school’s name on Google to “Bob Hawk Tuah College.” The name change appears to be a reference to a viral video from earlier this year, featuring American influencer Haliey Welch using the phrase “hawk-tuah.”
The school staff have reported the issue to Google, but the name change remains unaddressed. The “hawk-tuah” phrase, which originated from a short video clip of Welch making an X-rated comment, sparked a viral meme and has since been incorporated into merchandise and Welch’s podcast, “Talk Tuah with Haliey Welch.”
The high school, which opened in February 2020, was named after former Labor Prime Minister Bob Hawke. The school’s administration is currently working to rectify the online name change.
