**MANILA, PHILIPPINES** – PBA icon Robert “Sonny” Jaworski Sr. is showing signs of improvement despite battling a rare blood disorder. This was announced by his son, Robert “Dodot” Jaworski Jr., during the PBA Press Corps’ 30th Awards Night where the elder Jaworski was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Dodot shared that while his father is still not fully recovered, he has made significant progress, being “physically stronger now” than last year. He acknowledged that Jaworski Sr. continues to face challenges but expressed optimism about his recovery.
The PBA Press Corps recognized Jaworski Sr.’s extraordinary career, which saw him become a beloved figure for the Barangay Ginebra franchise and set numerous records, including holding the top spot for career assists with 5,825. He is also the first player to reach the age of 50 while still playing in the PBA.
Despite his health struggles, Jaworski Sr. remains a beloved figure in Filipino basketball. Dodot emphasized that the continued support and admiration of fans play a vital role in his father’s recovery.
“Not one single day passes without someone asking me how my father is,” Dodot shared. “That only means that the Jaworski name is embedded in the hearts of the Filipinos. The people love him and I think that’s really what’s giving him the desire to get better.”
