Paris Fashion Week saw Christian Dior showcase a functional and empowering Spring/Summer 2025 collection, drawing inspiration from the “Amazonian” woman. Creative Director Maria Grazia Chiuri reinterpreted the iconic “Amazone” dress, first presented in 1951, through asymmetric cuts on the Bar Jacket, bodices, and deconstructed shirts.
The collection seamlessly blended athletic influences, like elevated track pants and sneaker variations, with the legacy of the Paris Olympic Games. This translated into jersey fabrics paired with luxurious evening wear, allowing for movement without constraint. The classic trench coat made an appearance in its purest form and a reimagined “Bar meets combat suit” style.
The Dior Beauty look, created by Makeup Creative and Image Director Peter Philips, embodied this modern “Amazonian” spirit. Philips envisioned a “strong, active woman who has just come out of the gym,” showcasing new multitasking products like Dior Forever Skin Contour and Dior Rouge Blush Color & Glow.
These products, designed to address contemporary needs, offer long-lasting wear and natural pigments for a “workout blush” effect. The “workout blush” is applied just below the cheekbones, contrasting with the traditional “romantic blush” on the apples of the cheeks.
The collection’s scenography, created by multidisciplinary artist and competitive archer SAGG Napoli, featured a 70-meter metal and glass structure with the phrase “May the building of a strong mind and a strong body be the greatest work I have ever made,” echoing the discipline and focus of archery.
The show drew a powerful front row, including Black Pink’s Jisoo, Brigitte Macron, Natalie Portman, Ashley Park, and the newly announced global ambassador for Dior, Spanish musician Rosalia.
Overall, Dior’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection presented a contemporary take on femininity, empowering women with functional and stylish clothing while celebrating the strength and discipline of the modern Amazonian woman.
