**Vancouver, Canada -** ArcheAge 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the popular MMORPG, has undergone a name change and a significant shift in gameplay focus. Now known as “ArcheAge Chronicles,” the game will blend MMO elements with online action RPG mechanics, according to developer XLGAMES.
CEO Jake Song highlighted the game’s evolution, stating, “This new title represents our vision of combining the expansive, immersive elements of an MMO with the dynamic, engaging gameplay of an Online Action RPG.”
While previous information indicated a move away from large-scale PvP, the latest press release remains silent on the presence of PvP, leaving players wondering about the extent of player-versus-player conflict.
One notable change is the introduction of instanced housing, a departure from the open-world housing system in the original ArcheAge. Executive Producer Yongjin Ham explained, “In ArcheAge Chronicles, housing will be a cornerstone feature, enabling players to build and customize their own homes. Transitioning from the previous open-world model, ArcheAge Chronicles now features dedicated housing zones where players can showcase their creativity and achievements.”
The game will feature robust PvE content, including “large-scale” raids for ten or more players, where groups will need to coordinate their skills to overcome challenging bosses.
ArcheAge Chronicles boasts a variety of life skills, such as farming, crafting, and trading, providing players with numerous ways to interact with the game world and its economy.
The game is now available for wishlisting on all major platforms: PC Steam, PC Epic Games Store, PlayStation Store, and Xbox Store. Minimum and recommended PC specifications are available on the PC stores, highlighting the game’s reliance on the powerful Unreal Engine 5.
The rebranding and gameplay shift of ArcheAge Chronicles represent a bold move by XLGAMES, aiming to cater to a broader audience by combining popular MMO elements with the action-packed thrill of online RPGs. While the details surrounding PvP remain unclear, the focus on PvE, guild warfare, and instanced housing suggests a unique and engaging experience for players.
