**Auchinleck, Scotland** – A 32-year-old woman and her six-year-old daughter have tragically lost their lives in a single-vehicle collision in East Ayrshire.
Police Scotland identified the victims as Rebecca Hill and her daughter Arianna Aliu. The crash occurred on Tuesday afternoon around 5pm on the A76 near the B713 junction, between Catrine and Auchinleck.
Arianna was pronounced dead at the scene. Ms. Hill, who was driving the white Volkswagen Passat, was transported to Glasgow’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital but sadly passed away shortly after arrival.
Police confirmed that the victims’ families have been informed and are receiving support from specialist officers. The A76 was closed for approximately seven hours while investigators examined the scene.
Inspector Kenny Malaney expressed the force’s condolences, stating, “Our thoughts are with everyone affected by this tragic incident at this extremely difficult time. Specialist officers are assisting Rebecca and Arianna’s family.”
He extended gratitude to members of the public who assisted at the scene and contacted emergency services.
The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing, and police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have dashcam footage of the Passat prior to the collision to come forward.
