Wed Sep 25 07:53:52 UTC 2024: ## All People’s Congress Unveils 2024 Manifesto, Aiming to “Transform Ghana”

The All People’s Congress (APC) has launched its campaign manifesto for the 2024 general elections, presenting a bold vision for Ghana’s future and urging voters to reject both the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The manifesto, centered around seven key policy interventions, promises to “transform Ghana and restore prosperity for all”. The APC’s flagbearer, Dr. Hassan Ayariga, outlined a strategy focused on nationalization, industrialization, globalization, modernization, domestication, commercialization, and digitalization.

Dr. Ayariga emphasized the need for a “modernized and well-structured economy”, advocating for increased productivity, skill development, and efficient resource management. He highlighted the lack of value addition to Ghana’s raw materials as a significant obstacle to economic growth and proposed a “commercialization policy” to address this issue.

The manifesto also calls for a return to “nationalization” to protect Ghanaian sovereignty and empower local businesses through tax incentives and investment in national heritage. The APC plans to prioritize digital transformation with infrastructure development and data-driven policies, reviving collapsed factories and completing abandoned government projects to create jobs.

Other key policy areas include:

* **Agriculture:** Modernized farming practices, irrigation projects, subsidized inputs, and the establishment of Agricultural Universities in the Northern, Eastern, and Western regions.
* **Utilities:** A flat-rate policy for electricity consumption and price controls for essential goods and services.
* **Governance:** An “inclusive” system with merit-based appointments, an Inspectorate General Office to monitor public institutions, and a drastic reduction in public debt.

Dr. Ayariga concluded by stating that the APC government would aim to improve social welfare, strengthen public financial management, and prioritize responsible government spending.

The APC’s manifesto presents a comprehensive vision for Ghana’s future, focusing on economic growth, social development, and good governance. Whether voters will embrace their call for change remains to be seen in the upcoming December elections.
