**Bengaluru, Karnataka:** Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is facing allegations of corruption in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam, with a Special Court ordering an investigation into the alleged illegal allotment of 14 sites worth Rs 56 crore to his wife, Parvathi.
The order, issued on Wednesday, follows the Karnataka High Court’s dismissal of Siddaramaiah’s petition challenging Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot’s approval for the investigation. The High Court also vacated its interim stay order, paving the way for the Lokayukta to proceed with the investigation.
Despite the allegations, Siddaramaiah maintains his innocence and has vowed to fight the case legally. He has also dismissed calls to resign, stating that he will not be deterred by the investigation.
Meanwhile, Karnataka Minister BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan has defended the Chief Minister, calling the allegations a political game. Khan expressed confidence that an investigation will clear Siddaramaiah’s name and stated that senior party leaders are supporting the CM and urging him not to step down.
The Lokayukta’s investigation is expected to be completed within three months. The outcome of the investigation will likely have significant implications for Siddaramaiah’s political future.
