Wed Sep 25 04:32:22 UTC 2024: ## US Airmen Freed After 4-Month “Nightmare” in Dubai Jail

**Dubai, UAE -** Two American brothers, Joseph and Joshua Lopez, have been released from a Dubai jail after a four-month ordeal that began with a seemingly harmless vacation turned into a nightmare. The brothers, who had hoped to generate luxurious social media content in the City of Gold, were arrested after alleging they were lured to a yacht party and drugged.

Joseph Lopez, an Air Force veteran, recounted his harrowing experience, stating he doesn’t remember anything after being given a drink at the party. The brothers were subsequently charged with assault, resisting arrest, damaging a patrol vehicle, and alcohol consumption.

“I just lived something that is going to sound like a movie to many, and now I will share my experience with you to the world,” said Lopez in a video titled, “Dear Dubai.”

Detained in Dubai, an organization dedicated to assisting individuals facing legal issues in the UAE, played a key role in securing the brothers’ release. They alleged that the police failed to investigate claims of drugging and that the brothers were targeted.

The release was made possible, in part, by the support of Ohio Senator JD Vance, who “was highly supportive of his constituents and keen to get them home as fast as possible,” according to Detained in Dubai CEO Radha Stirling.

Stirling emphasized that the Lopez brothers’ case should serve as a warning to tourists who may mistakenly believe the UAE is entirely safe. “This kind of crime is only spoken about when raised by victims. It won’t be in the Dubai annual crime statistics,” she claimed.

The brothers have returned to their native Ohio, where they are expected to share their story and raise awareness about the potential risks for American tourists in Dubai.
