Mon Sep 23 22:02:24 UTC 2024: ## WWE Co-Founder Vince McMahon Criticizes Upcoming Netflix Docuseries “Mr. McMahon”

Former WWE CEO Vince McMahon is distancing himself from the upcoming Netflix docuseries “Mr. McMahon,” which premieres this week. While McMahon participated in the series, he now claims it presents a misleading narrative, conflating his wrestling persona with his true self.

McMahon, who spent over 200 hours being interviewed for the series, contends that the docuseries “falls short” of an objective portrayal of his life and the wrestling empire he built. He takes particular issue with the title and promos, which he believes reinforce the conflation of “Mr. McMahon,” his on-screen villain, with his real persona.

McMahon accuses the producers of using “typical editing tricks” and “out-of-context footage” to support a deceptive narrative. He specifically criticizes the series’ inclusion of a lawsuit filed against him by former WWE employee Janel Grant, alleging sexual harassment and abuse. McMahon labels the lawsuit, stemming from a terminated affair, as further evidence of the series’ misleading portrayal.

Grant’s attorney, Ann Callis, vehemently denies McMahon’s characterization of the situation, calling his actions “horrific and criminal behavior” and asserting that McMahon’s “delusional” attempt to downplay the abuse is a “sad attempt to save his shredded reputation.”

Callis, who previously held a press conference emphasizing Grant’s refusal to participate in the docuseries, maintains that the series offers an opportunity to shed light on McMahon’s “abhorrent actions.” She insists that Grant deserves to tell her story “on her own terms” and not as part of someone else’s narrative.

“Mr. McMahon” features interviews with various WWE figures, including Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Hulk Hogan, and John Cena, along with McMahon himself. However, McMahon’s recent criticism of the docuseries adds a layer of intrigue to the series’ release, leaving viewers to decide for themselves what truth lies within the narrative.
