Bollywood actress Urmila Matondkar has filed for divorce from her husband, businessman and model Mohsin Akhtar Mir, according to multiple media reports. The couple, who married in 2016, have reportedly decided to part ways after eight years.
Matondkar, known for her roles in films like “Rangeela” and “Satya,” has been in the public eye both for her acting career and her brief foray into politics. She contested the 2019 Lok Sabha election from the Mumbai North seat for the Congress party, but lost.
Her election affidavit, which disclosed her and her husband’s assets and liabilities, reveals a significant wealth disparity between the two. Matondkar declared an income of over ₹2.85 crore in 2017-18, while her husband’s income was just ₹5 lakh. She holds substantial investments in shares, bonds, mutual funds, and real estate, with a total estimated net worth of ₹60.5 crore in 2019. Her husband’s assets were considerably less, with a property worth ₹30 lakh being his most significant asset.
