Mon Sep 23 23:04:35 UTC 2024: ## Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights Features New All-Female Monster Maze

**Orlando, Florida** – Universal Studios is shaking up its annual Halloween Horror Nights event with a new haunted maze featuring all-female monster characters. Titled “Universal Monsters: Eternal Bloodlines,” the attraction centers around lesser-known female figures from the Universal monster movie universe, including the Bride of Frankenstein, Van Helsing’s daughter, She-Wolf, and Dracula’s daughter.

This shift in focus marks a deliberate effort to break away from the traditionally male-dominated horror genre, according to Halloween Horror Nights creative director John Murdy. “When horror started, it was pretty male-centric,” Murdy told the Los Angeles Times. “It was Freddy, Jason, Leatherface, Michael Myers… But as time has gone on, we’ve kept an open mind about embracing all horror.”

Murdy’s inspiration came from the success of a 2021 maze centered around the Bride of Frankenstein, proving the appeal of female-led monster experiences. He also drew inspiration from his two daughters, who have grown up surrounded by his extensive collection of Universal Monster memorabilia. “I want to create powerful female characters for my kids,” Murdy said.

“Universal Monsters: Eternal Bloodlines” opened on August 30th at Universal Orlando and September 5th at Universal Studios Hollywood, running on select nights until November 3rd.
