Mon Sep 23 23:22:10 UTC 2024: ## Zelensky’s Pennsylvania Visit Sparks Foreign Interference Concerns

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s visit to Pennsylvania on Monday, a key battleground state in the upcoming US election, has sparked accusations of foreign election interference. Zelensky, who is seeking further military aid from the US, toured an ammunition plant with Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, a prominent Kamala Harris surrogate, and other Democrats.

Zelensky arrived in Scranton, Pennsylvania aboard a US Air Force C-17, a move that has drawn criticism from Republicans. “Zelensky is in Pennsylvania today, signing bombs with Gov. Shapiro… if that ain’t foreign election interference, I don’t know what is,” said Sean Parnell, a former Pennsylvania Republican candidate.

The visit comes a day after Zelensky gave an interview to The New Yorker, in which he criticized former President Donald Trump and his running mate, Senator J.D. Vance, for their stance on the war in Ukraine. Zelensky accused Trump of not knowing how to end the war and labeled Vance “too radical” for his proposed solution.

Zelensky’s visit and subsequent statements have fueled concerns about the Biden-Harris administration using military assets to influence the election. The Department of Defense has declined to comment on the use of a US Air Force plane for Zelensky’s trip or his apparent campaign work.

However, Zelensky maintains that Ukraine is not being swayed by American domestic politics. “I think Ukraine has demonstrated the wisdom of not becoming captured by American domestic politics,” he stated.

Despite the controversy, Zelensky is scheduled to attend the UN General Assembly this week and meet with President Biden and Vice President Harris to request further military assistance. The US has already provided over $56 billion in aid to Ukraine, making it the largest donor in the Ukraine Defense Contact Group.
