Mon Sep 23 22:14:57 UTC 2024: ## Trump Promises to Enforce China Trade Deal and Crack Down on Fentanyl if Re-elected

**Smithton, Pennsylvania** – Former President Donald Trump, campaigning for the Republican presidential nomination in Pennsylvania, promised to prioritize two key issues with China if he returns to the White House: enforcing the 2020 trade deal and cracking down on fentanyl trafficking.

Speaking at a campaign event focused on agriculture, Trump vowed to immediately call Chinese President Xi Jinping and demand adherence to the “Phase One” trade agreement, which obligated China to increase purchases of American goods, including $50 billion in agricultural products. He confidently predicted, “I guarantee you he will buy it. 100% he will buy it.”

Trump also criticized the current administration for failing to enforce the trade deal, arguing it was a “disaster” for farmers.

Turning to the fentanyl crisis, Trump said he would demand a death penalty for fentanyl dealers operating in China who are sending the drug into the United States through the Mexican border. He blamed the current administration for the “weakest border in history,” and claimed he had a handshake agreement with Xi to combat fentanyl during his first term.

Trump’s campaign event, part of the “Protecting America Initiative,” focused on concerns about China’s potential to infiltrate U.S. farmland, food supply, and other critical sectors. He was joined by former acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell, former New York Rep. Lee Zeldin, and other political supporters.

The former president’s comments come as the U.S.-China relationship remains fraught with challenges, including trade disputes and geopolitical tensions.
