**Mountain View, CA -** In honor of the world’s largest popcorn machine, Google has released a fun and interactive Doodle game celebrating everyone’s favorite movie snack. The game, which will be live until Sept. 26 at 11:59 p.m. PST, features players controlling un-popped kernels, dodging enemy pellets and a menacing stick of butter.
The game allows players to choose from three character options and can be played alone or with friends in “squad mode”. “We had a fantastic time creating it, and we hope people have just as much fun playing it!” said Brian Murray, Doodle lead engineer.
This isn’t just about popcorn; it’s a celebration of the global snack’s cultural diversity. From pipoca in Brazil to maple popcorn in Canada, Google recognizes the different “flavorful spins” popcorn has taken across the world.
The Doodle marks the anniversary of the largest popcorn machine ever created, awarded the Guinness World Record on September 26, 2020. The machine, located at Carnival Magic Theme Park in Phuket, Thailand, stands over 25 feet tall, 11 feet wide and 9 feet deep.
Google’s Doodles have become known for celebrating a wide range of subjects. Since their inception in 1998, Doodles have covered everything from Filipino cuisine to Black cartoonists, honoring diverse cultures and individuals. So, grab your popcorn, join the game, and celebrate the universal love of this crunchy, delicious treat!
