**New Delhi, India** – The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the appointment of nine advocates as judges of the Bombay High Court. The appointments are part of an ongoing effort to fill numerous vacancies at the court, which currently has 28 out of 94 sanctioned judge positions vacant.
The Collegium, the body responsible for recommending judicial appointments, passed two resolutions in January and April 2024. The first resolution recommended the elevation of five advocates: Shri Prafulla Surendrakumar Khubalkar, Shri Ashwin Damodar Bhobe, Shri Rohit Wasudeo Joshi, Shri Advait Mahendra Sethna, and Shri Rajesh Sudhakar Datar. The second resolution recommended the appointment of four additional advocates: Shri Sachin Shivajirao Deshmukh, Shri Gautam Ashwin Ankhad, Shri Mahendra Madhavrao Nerlikar, and Shri.
The appointment of these nine individuals will help address the significant backlog of cases at the Bombay High Court and ensure the efficient functioning of the judiciary.
