Print-on-demand company Sticker Mule has been embroiled in controversy following their outspoken support for former President Donald Trump. The company, known for its sticker and merchandise printing services, sparked outrage in July with a marketing campaign offering discounts on Trump-themed apparel, claiming that “the hate for Trump and his supporters has gone too far.” This move drew criticism for politicizing their business channels.
Now, Sticker Mule claims they’re facing another setback – a Reddit ban. The company’s account, dormant for seven years, recently attempted to reengage with the platform, but was removed from several subreddits, including r/Stickers, r/startups, r/NewYork, and r/Albana.
Sticker Mule co-founder Anthony Constantino claims this ban is discriminatory against Trump supporters and will hurt their website traffic. He argues that Google uses Reddit as a major search signal, and a ban on the platform will negatively impact their ranking in search results.
However, Reddit moderators insist the ban is due to Sticker Mule’s “recent behaviour and controversies” related to their pro-Trump messaging. Moderators in r/Stickers specifically cite “detrimental affect on the user experience” due to the company’s political stance.
Despite the ban, Sticker Mule maintains a strong presence on other social media platforms, continuing to promote pro-Trump content, including statements criticizing Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden.
The company has also released an official endorsement of Trump, calling him the “max global happiness President” and promoting his policies.
While some users express support for Sticker Mule’s pro-Trump stance, others are critical, questioning the company’s decision to align itself politically and suggesting it could be counterproductive to their business goals.
The controversy highlights the delicate balance between online platforms and political expression, with companies increasingly finding themselves navigating the complexities of user engagement and political positioning.
