Tue Sep 24 04:16:55 UTC 2024: ## Smart #5 Electric SUV Opens for Pre-Orders in China with Starting Price of RM145,000

**BEIJING** – Smart, the revitalized brand owned by Geely and Mercedes-Benz, has officially opened pre-orders for its largest model to date, the #5, in China. Priced starting at 245,000 yuan (around RM145,000), the #5 will be available with a variety of powerful electric powertrains.

The rear-wheel drive variants boast an electric motor generating either 340 PS (250 kW) or 363 PS (267 kW). Two all-wheel drive options offer even more power, delivering 587 PS (432 kW) or a staggering 646 PS (475 kW).

The #5 is built on the PMA2+ platform, boasting an 800V electrical architecture that enables 4C DC fast charging. This translates to a remarkable 500 km range recovery with just 15 minutes of charging.

Two battery pack options are available: a 76-kWh LFP unit for RWD variants providing a range of 570 km to 660 km, and a 100-kWh NMC battery for AWD variants boasting a range of 720 km to 740 km. These range figures are based on China’s CLTC standard.

The #5 is generously sized, measuring 4,705 mm long, 1,920 mm wide, and 1,705 mm tall, with a 2,900 mm wheelbase. This makes it larger than popular electric SUVs like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Honda CR-V.

Inside, the #5 boasts a luxurious and tech-laden cabin. Key features include a 10.3-inch digital instrument cluster, twin 13-inch AMOLED touchscreens with 2.5K resolution, an augmented reality-enabled head-up display, a 20-speaker Sennheiser sound system, and a detachable portable speaker.

The Smart #5 will be officially launched in China at the end of October. With its impressive performance, range, and features, the #5 is poised to become a strong contender in the competitive Chinese electric SUV market.
