Wed Sep 25 14:54:50 UTC 2024: ## Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah Defiant in Face of Lokayukta Probe: “Not Afraid”

**Bengaluru, [Date]:** Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has declared he is “not afraid” of the Lokayukta probe ordered by a special court in Bengaluru into the alleged Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) land allotment scam. The probe was ordered after allegations surfaced that Siddaramaiah’s wife, Parvathi, was illegally allotted 14 sites worth ₹56 crore by the MUDA.

Siddaramaiah, taking to X (formerly Twitter), said he would “provide a detailed response after reviewing the full copy of the order” and was “ready to face the investigation and continue the legal fight.” He asserted that “there is no question of fearing an investigation” and vowed to “face everything.” The Chief Minister said he would decide his next course of action after consulting with legal experts.

The allegations stem from the MUDA’s allotment of plots to Parvathi under a 50:50 ratio scheme in exchange for 3.16 acres of her land, which was used for developing a residential layout.

Earlier, the Karnataka High Court had granted Siddaramaiah temporary relief by directing a special court to defer proceedings in the matter. However, the special court on Wednesday overruled the previous order and directed the Karnataka Lokayukta’s Mysuru district police to conduct the investigation and submit a report within three months. The court also ordered the registration of an FIR in the case.

This comes after the High Court dismissed Siddaramaiah’s petition challenging Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot’s approval for an investigation into the MUDA land allotments.

The Lokayukta probe is expected to shed light on the allegations and potentially determine the extent of any wrongdoing in the land allotment process.
