**PHOENIX, AZ -** A 1973 AMC Hornet, once a champion on the SCCA racing circuit, is now available for purchase. This two-door hatchback, owned by Chuck Smiley, secured consecutive championships in the SCCA Solo 1 Sports Touring A class in the South Pacific Division in 1987 and 1988.
The car has been extensively modified for racing, featuring a powerful 401ci V8 engine paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Other notable features include a custom rear suspension, anti-roll bars, Enkei 15″ wheels, racing graphics, and a full roll cage.
Under current ownership, the car underwent a thorough refurbishment, including a new engine and starter. The Hornet is accompanied by an SCCA “continuation” logbook, old racing results and photos, a magazine article featuring the car, and recent service records.
